Butterflies Series

Ephemeral Flutter

Painting, Acrylic on Canvas

Size: 72 W x 48 H x 1.5 D in

Ephemeral Flutter

This diptych of butterflies is a reflection on the fleeting nature of existence and the ephemeral quality of memories and thoughts. Through the minimalist aesthetic and abstract composition, the painting captures the essence of impermanence and the beauty found in moments of transience.

Through his masterful use of color, form, and symbolism, Gary Low invites the viewer to reflect on the ephemeral nature of existence and the enduring power of the human spirit…

The butterflies appear fragmented and disjointed, as if caught in a moment of fleeting movement. Rendered in intricate detail with subtle texture, the butterflies seem to dissolve into the background, their outlines fading into the monochromatic hues. Wisps of gray and black paint swirl around the butterflies, suggesting the ephemeral nature of their existence.

Throughout both panels, various textures are used to enhance the visual depth and tactile quality of the painting. Layers of paint are applied with gestural brushstrokes, creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. The textured surface invites viewers to engage with the artwork on a sensory level, encouraging contemplation and introspection.

Butterfly Tears

The central motif of butterflies represents a pair of crying eyes with their wings streaming with tears. The gentle cascade of tears that seem to fall from the the butterflies themselves is symbolic representation of the pain and longing that accompanies change.

The subtle undercurrent of melancholy permeates the canvas, with a secondary deeper narrative of finding beauty in moments of vulnerability and transformation. Despite the bittersweet undertones, there is a sense of resilience and hope that emanates.

In "Butterfly Tears," Gary Low has created not just a work of art but a profound meditation on the cycles of life and the universal human experience. It is a testament to his skill as an artist and his ability to seamlessly blend elements of nature with emotional depth through introspection

Chiaroscuro Reverie of Butterflies and Peonies

With 'Chiaroscuro Reverie of Butterflies and Peonies,' my vision is to offer a visual symphony to capture the juxtaposition of fragility and resilience.

Against a canvas bathed in a mesmerizing cobalt blue, white butterflies take flight, their delicate wings caught in a graceful dance amidst the gentle cascade of raindrops. Amidst this ethereal setting, faded peonies emerge, their petals whispering softly against the intense blue expanse.

With this painting, I invite my audience to pause and contemplate, with equal reverence, the interplay between fleeting existence and endurance.

the Proud Bouquet and the Lilacs

Reminiscent of Robert Kushner's signature style, this composition of magnolias, water lilies, and lilacs intertwine in a harmonious dance of vibrant colors. Each petal seems to pulsate with life, as if whispering secrets of nature's resilience.

Amidst this floral tapestry, butterflies flit among the blooms, their delicate wings crafted using painted lace, adding a touch of whimsy and surrealism to the painting. This invites contemplation on the interconnectedness of all living beings.
