inspired by the peacock's symbolism of power and beauty during the Ming Dynasty, i set the stage using a backdrop of peonies. in this painting, i offer my visualization of a modern Chinoiserie - the European interpretation of Chinese art in decorative objects and wallpaper - with a modern take using painted lace and a collage of feathers.
